Renewing Hope - Repairing Hearts - Restoring Health
Counselling therapy services for individuals and couples. Experienced in supporting first responders and front-line workers. Face-To-Face services are available in the Newcastle and Hunter area. Online therapy services are available.
As a person-centred counsellor and a strong emphasis on the therapeutic alliance my clients will experience empathy, compassion, and care in a confidential, safe, and non-judgemental environment. Whilst working towards clarity and resolution of their issue’s clients will also be supported and empowered to achieve their therapy goals.
As a trauma informed and resource strengths-based therapist, I assist and support clients who feel stuck in unwanted feelings, emotions, behaviours, and relationships due to trauma or overwhelming and distressing life events by building and strengthening their internal resources and emotional intelligence.
My hope is that with support and knowledge my clients will continue their journey of ongoing improved mental health and overall well-being.
Ultimately, my desire is to renew hope, repair hearts and restore emotional health of my clients by empowering and equipping them with the resources they need to better navigate the difficult and challenging seasons in life.
I grew up on the NSW Central Coast and I have lived in the Newcastle/Hunter region for 25 years.
I love and enjoy caring for my family and friends and I also love to help others. I have 30 years’ operational experience working in Emergency Services and in more recent years I have also been involved in volunteering and serving in my local community in a variety of care roles.
I have always had a heart to take care of the needy, broken, hurting and vulnerable people in my community and so in 2012 I began my journey of studies and learning to further develop and grow my passion to help others.
During this time of personal and professional growth and development I became qualified as a counsellor and psychotherapist equipping me with the tools and skills to better support and assist others with deeper emotional issues. I have also completed numerous accredited and clinical training courses with a trauma informed focus including identifying, building, and strengthening internal resources and emotional intelligence. I continue to learn and develop through ongoing and regular professional development and supervision.
Along with my passion to help and support others, I am also passionate about my marriage of almost thirty years, my two children, my dog, good coffee, time with family and friends, and enjoying a good book to unwind and relax.

Practice Manager & Small Group Facilitator
I'm the Hope Heals Hearts Practice Manager and Small Group Facilitator.
I have thirty years’ operational experience in Emergency Services and am currently serving in a voluntary staff support role, providing care to first responders, their families and the public. I have ten year's experience as a qualified emergency services peer support officer. I find that my background and experience help me to be relatable to first responders – not just with work issues, but to understand the pressures of raising families while balancing family life and shift work in a high-stress workplace.
I have experienced the loss of close colleagues to suicide and the impact this had on our workplace and the families and friends left behind. I have been invited to speak about self-care for first responders and related topics at leadership development forums for the NSW State Emergency Service, and also at regional Suicide Prevention Conferences.
I am accredited to provide support to disaster victims, at evacuation centres and with community services following disasters such as floods and bushfires. I am also an accredited hospital chaplain, where I provide guidance and support to patients and staff. I am a marriage and funeral celebrant and a Justice of the Peace.
I'm a trainer and assessor, and more recently, have trained and supported foster carers to provide care and nurture for children who have experienced harm and abuse. I have also worked closely with foster children and their families to help them with the effects of significant trauma. I am also experienced in intensive case management, upskilling parenting capacity, and family restoration.
I feel privileged to help people who are facing the most profound human experiences, as they are challenged by their understanding of their values and themselves. By listening and building trusting relationships I am able to help people through times of difficult transition and pain. As our practice name reflects – hope heals hearts.
"It is a privilege to be able to help when people need it the most, to listen to them and help them to engage with the right supports."
